Cartoons for Direct Mail SLMA Radio Hour 08-01-13

And for those of you who still haven't checked out one of our longest running programs, here's a great sample of what you're missing.  Jim Obermayer, Executive Director of the Sales Lead Management Assn (located here in Orange County) talks about one of the most unusual, creative and successful ways to "start a conversation" with top level CEOs and cut thru the clutter with (are you ready for this?) personalized cartoons (like those seen in the Wall St. Journal and New Yorker magazine).  Clever, black and white cartoons of business people expressing what we've all thought (in that cool, clever "New Yorker" style of humor).  Hand delivered to your prospects door and personalized with them in the panel.  Produced by master cartoonist Stu Heinecke of the Wall Street Journal and elsewhere. This is the type of creative you just can't buy, with the type of "open rate" and retention other direct mail pieces dream about.  I (for example) still have one I received as a promotion for People magazine (drawn by Stu) from my days as a Hollywood Press Agent back in the 80's.  It shows some Hollywood producer type, lounging by his pool with the caption "Hey, you're supposed to be my press agent.  So why is (insert your name) in People magazine instead of me?"  I've kept it all these years framed in my office.  What other direct mail piece would you cherish and hold onto for years (and show it to everyone you meet?)  Imagine if that cartoon came from you! In a world with "information overload", Stu talks about how he and his clients have used personalized cartoons to get directly to some of the top CEOs in the country, opening doors and starting conversations that otherwise would never have happened.  And how his clients have seen their "open rates" soar and "viral messaging" take off by using some of Stu's cartoons in their email campaigns as well.   Some companies have even seen their clever cartoons copied and used over and over again in Powerpoint presentations years after they were created.  Your slide a permanent part of everyone's presentation.  Amazing stuff, but par for the course in this weekly discussion of how to generate and manage sales leads more effectively....on the SLMA Radio Hour, Thursdays at 5pm...only on www.OCTalkRadio.net.

OC Talk Radio Covers Rick Perry Event

Fresh from his 1st Presidential debate, Texas Gov. Rick Perry made a quick "meet and greet" appearance here in Orange County at Rogers Gardens in Corona Del Mar and OC Talk Radio was privileged to be among the select national and local media invited to attend. To a standing room only audience eager to hear from the new front runner for the GOP nomination, Gov. Perry spoke for only a few minutes but got an enthusiastic reaction from the OC Republican faithful in attendance including Roger's Garden founder and longtime Republican supporter, Gavin Herbert, OC GOP Chairman Scott Baugh and OC Supervisor Shawn Nelson (another OC Talk Radio guest on one of our earlier programs). As Orange County's only community radio station, we're happy to bring you the Governor's speech in its entirety.  Whatever your political persuasion, it's our hope to stimulate conversations like this one.
